Miles Durfee is a seasoned professional with over 20 years of experience in public education, advocacy, and leadership. As the Founder and Principal Consultant of Community Leadership Strategies, he specializes in leadership strategies, community engagement, and tailored advocacy for nonprofit and educational organizations, focusing on fostering organizational growth that aligns with community needs. Before establishing his consulting firm, Miles served as the Vice President of Local Advocacy and Member Support at the California Charter Schools Association (CCSA), where he promoted policies to enhance the growth sustainability of charter schools statewide. His extensive background includes collaboration with school leaders, community figures, and public officials to ensure student success and operational excellence in education.
Miles' commitment to advancing public education is also reflected in his former role as Manager of Administrative and Legislative Services for the San Diego Unified School District, where he advocated for legislative policies benefiting 125,000 students and collaborated with district staff on innovative initiatives. He holds a Master’s in Public Administration from The George Washington University and a Bachelor’s in Political Science and Business Economics from UC Santa Barbara, showcasing his dedication to lifelong learning and community service. Additionally, his active participation with organizations like the Copley-Price YMCA, the Old Mission Rotary Club, and Vista Public Charter Schools highlights his commitment to community growth and support.
